Now that August is behind us and I am starting to feel that fall chill in the air, I am officially in fall mode. True, it may still be too hot to wear jeans without sweating, but there is hope on the horizon! And with that turn of the calendar comes fall beauty collections. Quo Cosmetics has a beauty of a collection for fall with beautiful purple foliage packaging and metallic bronze brushes. Quo always does beautiful limited edition seasonal packaging, but this one is my favourite to date.
The Quo Cosmetics Limited Edition Fall 2016 Collection is made up of the Brush Up! 6 Piece Brush Set, an eyeshadow palette with three different shade selections (Neutral Ground, Plum Perfect and Clean Sweep), a face palette in two shade ranges (Sweet Illusion and Perfectly Ordinary), their much-loved brow palette in Raise Your Brows and three matte lipstick shades (Mysterious, Red Alert, Brandy). I have a selection of the collection to share today, starting out with the brushes.
Brush Up! 6 Piece Brush Set
First up in the Quo Cosmetics Limited Edition Fall 2016 Collection is the Brush Up! brush set. This set comes with six brushes and a pouch for travelling. The outside of the pouch is a suede-like material with a zipper closure and plastic interior for easy cleaning. I’m looking forward to putting some of these brushes to use during my upcoming trip to Toronto!
This set contains:
- Liner & Brow Brush
- Blush Brush
- Powder Brush
- Foundation Brush
- Eyeshadow Brush
- Lip Brush
I’ve been using all of these for the past few weeks and I love the quality. The powder brush has shed a little on me when cleaning, but other than that they’ve been lovely to use. The rubberized end on the handles make it very comfortable to hold in your hand and I love the metallic brown colour of the ferrels. My favourite of the brushes is definitely the powder brush and the blush brush – both are so multi-purpose! I love using the blush brush for contouring and highlighting, but it’s also great for blush. The powder brush…well I love to use it for almost every kind of face powder I have: bronzer, blush, powder foundation, setting powder, even contour if you pinch the bristles. Don’t get me wrong the other brushes are good too, I just like those two the best.
Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral Ground
I’m always excited to try new eyeshadow palettes and the warmth of this one really excited me! There are 10 eyeshadows, an enormous mirror and a double ended sponge applicator in this palette. I actually like using this sponge applicator because it’s a nice length to fit in my hand – usually I just toss them, but this one is going to stick around.
I hadn’t tried Quo Cosmetics eyeshadows before, but had heard great things. The shadows are quite powdery so this is one palette I’d recommend using before you do your foundation. The shadows are very pigmented though, I was happily surprised!
Looking at the swatches, though you can see there are a lot of similar tones in this palette. I find it’s difficult to do many versatile looks, as everything ends up looking the same. There is an even mix of mattes and shimmers, and I don’t find that either performs better than the other – I like both formulas equally.
Raise Your Brows Palette
I love trying new brow products, so I was excited to dip my fingers into the Quo Cosmetics Raise Your Brows palette. This is a product that Quo brings back for every limited edition release (at least so far), and I’m happy to finally try it.
Unfortunately for me, the top shade in this palette is too warm for my brows, but the dark brown shade works well if I use a light hand. The brush included is surprisingly good quality (I always expect them to be crap) and I will probably keep it around for travel. Oddly, I think the wax included is my favourite part of this brow kit. I don’t usually use wax, but this one is soft and doesn’t leave my brows feeling crispy, so it’s become a new favourite.
Face Palette in Perfectly Ordinary
I was the most excited about the face palette in the fall Quo Cosmetics collection, though I did receive the darker of the two for review. The palette comes with three powders: a blush, highlight/setting powder (matte) and bronzer (shimmery). The powders are pretty powdery in this palette as well, so definitely make sure you knock your brush off if you end up picking this one up.
I love the blush – it’s a bit dark for me, but it’s the perfect darker pink for fall. The setting powder is really nice as a subtle highlight that actually shows up on my skin (a shock!) but the bronzer is super dark for me. I don’t know how much I’ll use it because I have to be really careful with how much I use it, especially with the shimmer, but on a darker skin tone I think it would be beautiful.
Matte Lipstick in Mysterious
Lastly is the Quo Cosmetics matte lipstick in Mysterious. The lipstick comes in a sleek black tube with a magnetic lid, making it feel very luxe. The bullet is cut in a way that makes it really easy to fit into my lip lines and the formula…oh boy the formula! I have a new favourite matte lipstick formula, y’all. It’s matte without being drying and it feels like nothing on the lips. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Maybelline Creamy Mattes but I know I’m wearing lipstick when I put those on. With this lipstick I forget I’m wearing anything until I look in the mirror.
And don’t even get me started on the colour! Mysterious is the perfect pink-berry for fall and it is so flattering to wear. Pretty much every time I put it on I get all heart-eyed.
You may remember this look from my Covergirl Clean Matte BB review last week. Well I used all of these products on my face, so you can see how they look in action. I really enjoy all of the products from the Quo Cosmetics Fall 2016 Collection, but if you are looking to get anything…get that lipstick!
