Project Make A Dent Update

Project Make A Dent Update | uptherollercoaster.com

It’s hard for me to believe that I started this project in January. It both feels like much longer and not long at all. During that time I’ve made incredible progress! I’ve used up four items, though most of that is due to either expiry or realizing that I just couldn’t make the product work for me.

I was absolutely heartbroken to get rid of my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze as it was one of the first makeup items I’d purchased because of a beauty blogger, but it just creased too badly on my oily lids. The essence gel liner had the same issues for me towards the end, though it ended up crumbling to bits on me before I tossed it. The Revlon balmstain in Romantic was one of the last items to go – it started to smell funny and I just didn’t want to risk it being bad. But I actually used it all up! 🎉

Now onto the products I still have left. I have made really good progress on the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Skimp but I barely used Bust. In truth I’ve barely worn eyeshadow (yet I still can’t help but lust over it…).

It’s impossible to tell where my progress is on the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paolo, but I’ve only used it a handful of times. Now that the weather is warm I hope to use it more frequently!

I made good progress on both products as I as pairing them most days during the colder months. Now that it’s warmer outside I haven’t been liking how the powder has looked on my skin, so I’ve put it away for a while. I am hopeful that I will use the BB Cream up in the next month, though!

I don’t think I will end up adding to this Project Make a Dent as time goes on, as I’ve started to switch out my makeup on a monthly basis to make sure everything is getting equal love. It means fewer things will get used up, but I will make a dent in more things.

  1. Love this idea! I may jump on the “Project make a Dent” as well! We all have products that are just waiting to be rediscovered, used up or tossed! Thanks for the idea and great post!

  2. I’ve stopped the “project pan/make a dent” type things as well for the moment. I do have a few things I am focusing on a bit more than others but in general I just wanted to declutter a bit and as long as I am always (or often enough) using my making and making progress I’m not going to beat myself up about not finishing things because…with my amount of makeup, that doesn’t really happen haha

    1. Haha yeah I feel ya! I like project make a dent vs project pan because the theory is instead of using the whole thing, the hope is just to make a dent. Which I’ve definitely done! So I totally don’t mind that I haven’t used much of the lippie.

  3. Man… we’re all so weird. I had horribly creasy eyelids and yet the Color Tattoos are some of the only products that don’t crease on me! (And yet they do on you. 🙁 ) SO WEIRD. That being said, they made my eyelids look crepe-y as hell so I don’t love them very much.

    1. The leather ones look crepe-y on me, yet still crease. I don’t understand it AT ALL. I’ve been so frustrated lately that I’ve given up on eyeshadow all together tbh….

  4. Oh man, this post just reminded me that I own a few shades of the color tattoos BUT NEVER USE THEM. If you lived closer, I’d pass Bad To The Bronze along to you!

THERE NEEDS TO BE A PRODUCT THAT MEASURES HOW MUCH PRODUCT IS LEFT INSIDE A TUBE OF PRODUCT. MAYBE LIKE A TINY NEEDLE-LIKE PROBE THAT YOU CAN INSERT INTO THE TUBE AND IT’LL TAKE MEASUREMENTS OF HOW MUCH PRODUCT IS LEFT AND WILL MEASURE HOW MUCH PRODUCT YOU USE EACH TIME AND HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO FINISH UP THE PRODUCT. WHY IS THIS NOT A THING??
