As much as I adore vampy lips any time of the year, more and more recently I have been reaching for nudes. First it was MUFE Rouge Artist Naturale in Copper Pink*, but the past few weeks I have been unable to get enough of L’Oreal’s Julianne’s Nude from the new permanent Colour Riche Collection.
The Colour Riche Collection is inspired by L’Oreal’s past (and present) brand ambassadors, so there is a wide range of colours that will suite all skin tones. (That is, if you want to wear them as nudes – I think I would personally love Liya’s Nude as a vampy lipstick…not that I need any more of those.) There are six shades in total ranging from a barely-there light pink to a deep reddish-brown.
Let’s talk about the packaging first. Seriously, it is probably the pretties packaging I’ve ever seen on a drugstore lipstick – it is definitely worthy of L’Oreal’s beautiful brand ambassadors. The bullet is the standard rounded rectangle shape of all of the Colour Riche packaging, but it is a gorgeous matte black with gold detailing that makes it stand out from all the rest. The lipstick itself is stamped with L’Oreal’s logo which is a very nice touch.
Now the lipstick itself fits in with the beautiful packaging seemlessly. Julianne’s Nude is a beautiful blue-toned pale pink unlike any in my collection – though that may be because I’m only just starting to get into nude lipsticks. It has a hydrating shine formula that I am surprised I love so much, being addicted to matte lip colours. But the formula makes it so easy to wear that paired with the gorgeous nude shade I often forget that I’m wearing lipstick at all. Though I do have to say that it has the scent that is reminiscent of all Colour Riche lipsticks: a scent that reminds me of the stereotypical grandmother smell – and I don’t mean cookies, if ya know what I mean. 😉 But the smell isnt lingering so I can get over it fairly fast.
What do you think – are you going to try out any of these shades? I think I’m going to have to swatch Eva Longoria’s Nude next…
