Longing for Fall with MAC Craving

Longing for Fall with MAC Craving

During the last month of every season I start to eagerly anticipate the next one. If not the weather or what life will bring, I certainly get excited for changing up my makeup (and to a much lesser extent, my wardrobe). For fall, it’s all about lipsticks. My favourite lipsticks are almost always the darker ones (okay, let’s not count my Clinique obsession for this one…) and as MAC Craving is my most recent acquisition, it’s the one I’m most excited to wear to death.

Zoë and I actually each bought one of these gorgeous beauties the last time she was in Halifax, so we decided that we needed to display our lipstick twin-ness with posts on the same day. She’s written a full review so I decided I’d accompany her post with a makeup look/tutorial.

MAC Craving screams fall – it’s darker than any lipsticks I’ve worn since snow was last on the ground and the berry hue is all fall. It’s bold while still being an every day lipstick and is just veering on the edge of vampy. I can see I’m going to be wearing this one a lot this fall. So I thought it would be quite appropriate to pull out the plaid shirt and the warm eyeshadows and go full on autumn for this look.

Base

Starting off I mixed the primer’s I’m still trying to use up for Finish 5 By Fall – Smashbox Photo Finish More than Primer: Blemish Control and NARS Pro Prime Light Optimizing Primer. I slathered those all over my face and then primed my eyes with the tiny bit of Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin I have left from the samples I got in my Naked 3 palette. (Yikes, that’s old now.)

I pulled out my brand new Lise Watier Portfolio Professional Corrector to conceal my acne scarring, dark circles and highlight around my mouth, cheekbones, chin and above my eyebrows. I’ll do a Beauty Guide in the future to go into further detail on how I use it, because it can definitely be intimidating! My foundation is MAC Matchmaster (the only foundation I have that’s dark enough for the tiny bit of a tan on my face) and I used the tiny bit of powder I have left in my Bobbi Brown Corrector Duo in Cool Sand/Pale Yellow to set my face.

Brows & Cheeks

I kept my cheeks super simple this time, just warming up my face with a bit of Annabelle Biggy Bronzer in Matte Gold*. For my brows I use the new Annabelle Stay Sharp Waterproof Brow Pencil in Medium Brown*. It takes a bit longer than other pencils I have to get to a point where I’m happy, but I really like the end result!

Eyes

I used one of my all time favourite palettes for this look – I actually had to replace my original because it was so well loved! The Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone* is full of beautiful shades for the fall. I started the eyes by sweeping the warm terracotta Eyelid shade all over the moveable part of the lid, blending out toward the tail of eyebrow. Next, I patted the medium brown Crease shade into the crease and blended it down into the outer third of the eyelid. Finally, I placed just a hint of the darkest Definer shade onto the outer v of my eyelid. I love this Wet n Wild palette so much for how seamlessly the shades blend together, making it so easy to create an eye that looks put together, even for the inexperienced.

I haven’t worn much eyeliner all summer, but there’s something about my first look for autumn that just needed it. Having a brand new emerald eyeliner to try out also definitely helped sway my decision in that matter too. 😉 Lise Watier’s Dramatique Intense Extra Smooth Eyeliner in Vert is a super creamy, long lasting liner that I blended into my lash line for a slightly more diffused look. I was also dying to try Lancome’s Hypnose Start Mascara in Noir Midnight, which I received in a goody bag at the Shoppers Drug Mart gala I attended last week. It’s dreamy. As soon as I swiped the first layer on I was drooling. New favourite mascara in the works, I think!

  1. I’m a huge fan of Wet n Wild palettes and my favorite palette is the Comfort Zone. I love the eye makeup look. You look amazing and I enjoyed reading your post. I’m looking forward for fall and dark vampy lipsticks 🙂 xo

  2. Wet n Wild do the best drugstore eyeshadows. I should probably find my palettes and show them some love. Comfort Zone is perfect for the fall months and the shades look beautiful on you!

  3. OOO beautiful fall look! Definitely very fall-appropriate!

I am looking forward to berry and khaki shades the most in terms of fall makeup, even though I don’t particularly enjoy any season that’s not summer LOL

  4. Looks amazing! As much as I love the sunshine fall is my favourite season. 🙂 I’d love to see how you use the Lise Watier wheel. I have acne scarring too but don’t really do too much to cover it up. It would be nice to do for special occasions!

  5. The lipstick looks amazing on you! I love fall too, not just for the darker makeup and fall shades but lattes and sweaters and cooler weather. Also, I think I need that wet n wild palette for the green shade
