Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection Review & Makeup Looks

October 18, 2016
Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: CC Transulecent Powder, Universal Brow Wax, Eye Shadow Palette

Holiday releases are already flooding the beauty world, so I’m a bit late to the party with the Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection. But if you haven’t read anything about these gorgeous fall beauty bits, get ready to have your socks blown off because they are awesome.

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: CC Transulecent Powder, Universal Brow Wax, Eye Shadow Palette

There are three products in Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection – a Universal Brow Sculpting Wax, CC Translucent Powder and 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette, plus a really great makeup bag. I took it on my trip to Toronto and it fit everything that I needed in there (minus the liquids of course). It’s got a handy zipper side, and then another side with elastics to hold everything in place…y’know, so your powders don’t get smashed during travel. And the stripes? So cute.

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection Universal Brow Sculpting Wax

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: Universal Brow Wax

I was a bit skeptical when I first saw the size of this brow wax – I have quite sparse brows with a very thin tail, so I wasn’t sure if it would work for me. The colour, turns out, is perfect and it’s actually quite easy to get into the hairs. I still like to use a pencil to draw in some of the missing hairs, but as a finishing wax this is perfection. And yes, I can get it onto the tail of my brow (and not the skin around it).

The packaging is very simple – it’s the standard orange plastic tube that I’ve come to expect from Joe Fresh. The product twists up (and twists down, which is important in my books) and the lid is nice and secure, so the Universal Brow Sculpting Wax isn’t going to dry out on you.

I am uncertain about the “universal” claims of this colour though. I think it’s great for brunettes, but it’s a bit dark even on my brows (I like my brows dark), so if you have very light hair you may have issues. Hopefully Joe Fresh brings out some more shades of this one!

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: CC Translucent Pressed Powder

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: CC Transulecent Powder Close Up

The Joe Fresh CC Translucent Pressed Powder contains peach, lavender and mint pigments along with the white so it’s meant to help counteract hyper-pigmentation in the skin. It’s very pretty to look at with the little speckles (it reminds me of a cartoon dinosaur’s egg!) but I have a feeling that this will look very ashy on skin tones that are any darker than mine. I love using the CC Translucent Pressed Powder under my eyes because it actually brightens my skin there (I have never encountered a powder that will before), but that makes me think it’s not quite as translucent as I’d hope. I haven’t noticed it helping counteract any hyper-pigmentation, but my skin has also been really good in that department lately, so I don’t think I’m the best judge on that aspect.

Packaging-wise, the CC Translucent Pressed Powder is quite nice to look at. It’s in a white plastic compact with a clear lid and the “Joe Fresh” brand stamped across the lid. It’s nothing fancy, but it feels very nice any sturdy anyway.

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: Eye Shadow Palette

Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection: Eye Shadow Palette

I’ve saved the star of the show for last – the Joe Fresh Eye Shadow Palette – Neutrals is breathtaking. The palette contains 12 neutral eye shadows (4 mates, 3 satins, 5 shimmers) that perform gorgeously. This is my new favourite eye shadow palette, y’all. I’ve used every eye shadow in the palette and they are smooth and pigmented, yet blend together beautifully – there’s no muddiness here.

This neutral eye palette has a nice mix of tones from light to dark, warm golds to cool taupes…it’s a really great addition to any beauty lovers collection. And I’ve already made a dent in the gold and the bronze if that tells you anything about how much I love it.

I created two looks for this post with the products from the Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection – the first is a very natural cool-toned eye shadow look with a bold lip, and the second is a smokey gold eye with a neutral lip.
