At the end of summer, Shoppers Drug Mart marked down the essence Longlasting Lipstick section of the essence shelf, and I couldn’t resist picking up a couple. I’ve been on a serious lipstick kick the last few months (my lipstick storage is completely full now…) but I was so happy to add these two to my collection.

The essence Longlasting Lipstick is simple but sleek – matte black, with a single stripe around the middle that allows you to tell the bullets apart. I love it when companies indicate the colour of the lipstick on the packaging like this, it’s so much easier to find in my collection! I love the touch of the “e” on the lid of these lipsticks – it makes them feeling more expensive than they are and adds a bit more of a chic feel to ’em.

I picked out two lipsticks that was perfect to play out the rest of summer and the beginning of fall with. 01 Coral Calling is a pretty mid-toned coral that brightens my face as soon as I put it on. I’m actually a bit sad I only just discovered this colour, because it definitely would have been my go-to summer shade.

04 On the Catwalk! is a pretty standard berry tone with a bit of brick in there. It’s a very easy colour for me to wear as it’s just a bit darker than my natural lip colour, so it doesn’t feel like a stretch.

I thought they would be drying and matte, a bit more like the Quo Matte Lipsticks, but they are neither. As you can tell from the swatch photos, these lipsticks are fairly glossy – definitely a satin more than a matte. They are also beautifully pigmented, so you don’t struggle to get them on the lips but…they aren’t particularly long wearing for me. Don’t get me wrong, I really love them, but they are very standard, regular-wearing lipsticks.

I still kind of want more colours though. I love the balmy texture, especially going into the colder months. Have you tried these lipsticks? What shades should I pick up next?
