Sephora Favorites: Bronze Bares All
Last week I broke my no buy streak (I’d been doing so well too!) and bought the Sephora Favorites: Bronze Bares All kit. This is unfortunately not available online anymore (at least not at the time of posting), but check your local Sephora if it interests you! I knew as soon as it was released that I was going to have a difficult time saying no to this kit. Becca, NARS, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Tarte, Sephora Collection… this power house kit is full of some of my favourite brands, so how could I possibly resist?

The Sephora Favourites: Bronze Bares All kit comes with:

Sephora Favorites: Bronze Bares All

Let’s start with the reason I was initially drawn to the set in the first place: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. As you may know if you’ve been a reader for a while, I’m a bit bronzer obsessed and this one from Too Faced has been on my wish list for as long as there has been a wish list. It’s the perfect bronzer shade: not too orange, but not ashy either and it smells like chocolate. What could be better? I think I might even be able to get away with using this as a contour because it is pretty neutral, but I will have to experiment with that one.

I’m slowly turning myself into a lip gloss fan, and a bronze one? That doesn’t really shout Jodi to me. But then again, I was surprised when I fell in love with a magenta lip gloss a few weeks ago, so never say never! NARS lip gloss in Supervixen is a shimmery bronze gloss that isn’t tacky or sticky and is surprisingly wearable! You can really sheer this out so that there isn’t a ton of pigment, or really pile it on if you want the colour to be more obvious.

Honestly, I wish the Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector in Opal was in the Moonstone shade, but that wouldn’t really go with the bronze theme, would it? Moonstone would be a beautiful highlight on my ghost-y skin and Opal would be just as gorgeous on girls with darker skin than I have. That being said, this is a gorgeous shimmery gold-ish shade that I can use as a highlight if I want too look super bronzed. I tend to stick to matte everything on my face so that my pimples aren’t exaggerated, but if those ever clear up (fingers crossed) I have a feeling this will become a regular because ohmygorgeous.

I hadn’t tried any of the Sephora Collection eye pencils before this, but #14 Cocoa-Chocolate is a beautiful deep brown with the softest hint of gold sparkle. It’s waterproof which is perfect for hot, sticky summer days (and the waterline!) and it’s soft enough that it’s easy to smoke out if you get at it right away. This baby sets fast. Though there is no transfer onto the eyelid from this pencil. (Hallelujah!)

When I first saw the Formula X Nail Color in Evocative I was pretty underwhelmed. I thought it would look very blah on my nails but it turned out to be a pretty pink-toned brown that looks super natural on the nails. I actually think my mom would love this colour, which makes me love it all the much more. As for the formula – I’m a bit undecided. I hadn’t tried anything from this line before but this polish sets super fast: by the time I had painted both sets of nails, my first nail was almost dry and ready for a second coat. It was also self-leveling and not goopy at all, which I am a huuuuge fan of. Buuuuut it didn’t last so long on my nails – about two days, which is totally standard for my nails, but I was hoping for a bit longer.

I’ve been intrigued by tarte The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer in Park Ave Princess since it was first released. I mean, a crayon you can draw your bronzer on with? Yes please! The Sculptor is far too warm for me to use as a true contour shade, though it’s so creamy and blendable that if it was cool toned I bet it would work like a dream. I do like it as a bronzer, though I need a very light hand or I risk looking like an oompa loompa.

Another product that had me itching to get my hands on the Sephora Favourites: Bronze Bares All kit is the Urban Decay Split Pan Eyeshadow in Half Baked/Twice Baked. These are two shades that I feel have been desperately missing from my collection since I opted for the Naked 3 over the other Naked palettes (though I think they just have Half Baked…) and now they are all mine! This is the first single (well, split, I suppose) eyeshadow I have from Urban Decay and it’s soooooo buttery. More so than the shadows from my Naked 3, I’d say! (Though that could also be because it’s younger.) Needless to say I am very happy with this part of the kit in particular. Now I just need to get my hands on Toasted….

Lastly is a product I am really uncertain about. I absolute love the formula of Bite Beauty High Pigmented Lip Pencils – all the pigment, all the moisture, all the staying power – but I am not so certain about the shade Madeira. It’s very nude and I am never certain if nudes make me look washed out/dead or not, so I usually opt for rosey/MLBB shades. I dunno, I need to play some more with this shade, but I really really love the formula. Really really.

Now what you’ve really been waiting for: the swatches!

Now that I’ve got my bronzing needs all set, I wonder what might eye will be drawn to next…

PS – I shot these photos in RAW and edited in Lightroom, what do you think?

  1. ahh this kit is so tempting to me but i managed to resist, i think i just want to the becca in moonstone most although opal is super pretty and my skin is quite warm so i could probably get away with it 🙂

    1. I’ve been playing with Opal a bit, and it’s super pretty but I do prefer a champagne highlight.

I really should have resisted, but I’ve been enjoying it anyway!

  2. PS the photos look great! I stopped shooting my blog photos in raw because I wasn’t really editing enough to take advantage of it, but it’s a goal of mine to get back to it sometime 🙂

    1. Thanks! I only have 17 days left on my Lightroom trial so I don’t know if I will keep shooting them in RAW after that but for now it’s been fun to play with! Thanks Zoe!

  3. Ahh I love the sets Sephora comes out with! I have a small sample size of the too faced bronzer and really like it!Especially the chocolate scent!

  4. I am soooo in love with these Sephora favourite kits, I feel like they make up most of my collection. When I actually first heard about this I wasn’t too sure, but after seeing all these swatches it’s soooo pretty.

    1. I swear I replied to this, but apparently not!

This is my first Sephora favourite kit and I really love it! Definitely going to have to consider more in the future.

  5. Love love love it. Seriously is there a CBB out there who didn’t get this set?? I still haven’t done a post about mine lol but I adore it.

I’m with you, I wish it came with moonstone! I guess I’ll have to suck it up and buy moonstone 😉
